Inspiring local businesses to come together for a cause greater than them all – ending hunger in New London County.
Are you ready to join us?
Each year, we bring together more than 75 local businesses with more than 150 locations for this friendly competition. Our goal is to bring together as many organizations in as many different industries as possible to collect enough food and donations to feed our community for the entire summer. We need your help to accomplish this lofty goal. How does it work? We’ll provide you with digital signage and social media post ideas to help you spread the word that you’re helping to end hunger. The event will include lots of great media exposure in local newspapers and on local radio stations. The event will run from May 20 – June 6 and collection will occur on Friday, June 7th at Surplus Unlimited in Norwich. While we have a list of specific food that is both healthy and in high-demand during this time of year, all non-perishable goods are welcome. Businesses will compete in three categories:
We will have an awards ceremony after the completion of the competition to celebrate all of your hard work. Join Now Why should you get involved?
• The Food Stays Within Our Communities: All of the funds raised and food collected remain within our community. Specifically, the event will benefit the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center, a program operated by United Way. Their Mobile Food Pantry Program delivers fresh food such as milk, meat, and veggies, along with traditional canned and boxed foods once a week in the areas we operate including Colchester, Groton, Jewett City, Norwich, New London, Salem, Stonington and Taftville. The Labor Food Center also helps to supply other local food pantries. We would love to have more meals available for families all year round. If you are interested in participating, contact us today at [email protected]. The more we partner and work together, the better we all are...TOGETHER!!
